SCTE-35: ad break signalling

What it is, who is going to ask you for it, and how to turn it on.

If your channel is distributed over IPTV or as a FAST channel, the distributor needs to know exactly when your commercial break starts and ends, so they can replace it with their own inventory in their territory.

That is done with SCTE-35 markers inside the transport stream.

How it works in AURA

You enable it per channel, in the transport output panel. From then on it is automatic: when the engine enters a commercial break it emits the out-point marker, and on leaving, the return. Nothing to prepare by hand and no clocks to line up.

What your distributor will ask for

Usually the service identifier and little else. If they ask for a specific event ID or a different pre-roll, raise it in the community and we will look at it.

Without these markers, a FAST distributor cannot monetise your channel — and it is the first thing they ask about.
